OnePlus Watch midnight black

160 Euro für eine Smartwatch mit AMOLED-Display und schönem Design? TechStage testet die Oneplus Watch, die für diesen Preis einiges an Features verspricht. Wir zeigen, was sie halten kann und was nicht.

On the surface, the OnePlus Watch is a premium smartwatch in design and hardware at an affordable price. However, it’s severely let down by its frankly unfinished software.

Despite high expectations, OnePlus’ first wearable is a big misfire. The forward thinking ideas and attention to detail that have come to define the company’s smartphones are just nowhere to be found here. There are far better wearables for a fraction of the price, while a slight bump in budget can net you the likes of the Coros Pace 2 or even an Apple Watch 3, all of which you should consider before going anywhere near the OnePlus Watch.

At the end of the day, the biggest advantages of the OnePlus Watch are its looks and its battery life. You can find everything else in any run-of-the-mill fitness band out there. All the hiccups and bugs will probably be addressed with future updates but at the moment the OnePlus Watch just feels a bit rough around the edges and incomplete. The watch costs $159 which is a fair price considering the features or the lack of them. If you like the design and don’t mind waiting for OnePlus to iron out all the bugs, maybe you can give it a try. But if you’re serious about your workouts and need solid smart features, you should probably look elsewhere.

The OnePlus Watch is the company's second effort to break into the wearables space, yet it's not quite coming in guns ablaze. The core hardware feature set is perfectly capable, though the abundant competition offering much of the same for less. Even as a fitness wearable, the lackluster OnePlus Health app just doesn't offer enough flexibility or integration to make the Watch a compelling alternative. While OnePlus has done justice to the hardware, it's missed the mark on the software front.

The $159 OnePlus Watch is a convincing first-generation wearable, offering a long battery life and responsive OS. It’s missing some key updates, but it could be the best cheap smartwatch for Android users we've seen in a while.

The OnePlus Watch is a great first smartwatch from OnePlus, blowing pricier rivals away in a couple of key areas, with sleek looks and week-long battery life. However, with a bespoke operating system it can’t load more than the preinstalled selection of basic apps, and its companion smartphone app is only available on Android at launch. Despite a few software glitches betraying its first-gen status, the OnePlus Watch is good value for the price, which is notably lower than Samsung and Apple competitors.

How did such an unfinished product make it to market?
