CPU-Overclocking wird diesen Platinen zwar verwehrt, dies trifft allerdings nicht auf das Arbeitsspeicher-Overclocking zu. With the Intel launch being stacked up so close with AMDs CPU launch as well as GPU launches from AMD and Nvidia as well late last year I didn’t get the chance to check out too much more as far as any of the other new LGA motherboards. This is especially true with some of the other chipsets and ITX boards. So with a little time this spring, I thought why not check some out and MSIs MPG B760I Edge WiFi fit the bill perfectly. We can check out the B760 and also check out an ITX board, perfect for a compact LAN-friendly build. So today I’m going to see what features MSI has given the board, check out its BIOS and performance, then see how it fits in the market price wise. So let’s dive in and see what it is all about.

MSI really know how to make a great motherboard, and that’s certainly true here. I’ve long been a fan of the MSI Tomahawk series of motherboards, and while the MSI MAG B760 TOMAHAWK WIFI DDR4 is one of the lower-end models we’ve tested recently, that’s certainly reflected in the overall price, so it certainly feels like MSI are right on the money here. Admittedly, at just under £200 it’s not “cheap” but this is basically the affordable version of an expensive board, and our charts don’t really have what I would consider truly budget models on them right now… at least, not yet. So while performance looks like the slowest board we’ve tested thus far, it’s both the truth and yet not as bad as it looks.

If you've read all of our B760 motherboard reviews then you'll forgive us for a moment if we're going over familiar ground. However, the truth is that the 13th Generation of Intel CPUs in the LGA 1700 socket are enough of a step forwards from the 12th Generation that they are extremely desireable. At the upper end the Core i9-13900K, the processor used in today's review, is more than enough for anything you care to throw at it. The middle models though, the Core i5-13600K for example, are flying off the shelves thanks to their combination of excellent performance and relatively affordable price point. But if you want a motherboard then you have had to make do with the expensive Z790 options. With the launch of the B760 chipset Intel have given you a much more affordable option, and in the form of the MSI MAG B760 Tomahawk you have a motherboard which doesn't cost a fortune to buy, uses more cost effective DDR4 memory, and yet has a weapon up its sleeve that could put it above the competition in the form of the 75A power stages.
