MSI B550

Anfangs stellte ich die Frage, ob man bei einem für den produktiven Einsatz angedachten Mainboard irgendwelche Abstriche bezüglich des Gaming zu erwarten hat. Das MSI B550-A PRO hat gezeigt, dass dies nicht der Fall ist. Es zeigte in allen Benchmarks keine negativen Auffälligkeiten bzw. wich eigentlich nicht von der Leistung der anderen B550-Mainboards im Testfeld ab. Besonders positiv konnte es sich dabei sogar beim Thema Leistungsaufnahme präsentieren. Das mag auch auf die etwas kargere Ausstattung zurückzuführen sein, aber man sollte sich vor dem Kauf schon darüber informieren was man bei dem vorligenden Board erhält.

Das MSI MEG B550 Unify ist ab 259,50 € im gelistet. Dafür bekommen wir hier viel geboten. Gleich vier M.2 Slots sorgen dafür, dass sich der Nutzer ein mechanisches Laufwerk sparen kann. Weiter bietet das Mainboard eine großzügig ausgelegte Spannungsversorgung. Weiter hat es ein Power-, Reset-, CMOS-Clear- und Flash-BIOS-Button sowie ein LED-Switch, vier Status-LEDs und auch eine Debug-LED.

Bisher war es bei MSI so, dass die MEG-Mainboardserie ausschließlich für den größten Chipsatz einer Plattform vorbehalten ist. Mit AMDs B550-PCH hat sich MSI nun jedoch dazu entschlossen, diese Tradition zu brechen und nun auch für den Mainstream-Chipsatz zumindest zwei MEG-Modelle mit B550-Chipsatz anzubieten. Neben dem MEG B550 UNIFY-X handelt es sich um das MEG B550 UNIFY, das wir uns in der Redaktion einmal näher angeschaut und durch den AM4-Testparcours geschickt haben.

Looking like it will likely be one of the top B550 board on the market, MSI’s MEG B550 UNIFY makes a good argument to be your next Ryzen based motherboard. Coming with quad M.2 slots, plenty of which are Gen4, it is looking to make the most from Ryzen processors and really push the B550 chipset to its limits. If overclocking is your thing, then this is definitely a board worth checking out. Although it is the B550 chipset, MSI has really gone above and beyond and this is not your average budget chipset board.

Das MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge WIFI ist aktuell zu einem Preis von ca. 158 € im Handel erhältlich. Das Mainboard überzeugt in vielerlei Hinsicht, besonders hervorzuheben sind die sehr gute Spannungsversorgung sowie die acht Lüfteranschlüsse. Zudem sind die zwei USB 3.2 Gen1 Anschlüsse mit 10 Gbit anstatt wie angegeben mit 5 GBit angebunden. Damit verdient sich das Mainboard eine klare Empfehlung.

Nach Mini-ITX ist vor Mini-ITX, zumindest dieses Mal! Während wir uns im letzten Test das ASUS ROG Strix B550-I Gaming (Hardwareluxx-Test) angeschaut haben, dreht sich heute alles um MSIs MPG B550I GAMING EDGE WIFI aus der MSI-Performance-Gaming-Reihe, das ebenfalls trotz der sehr kompakten Abmessungen anständig bestückt wurde. Was MSI alles draufgezaubert hat und wie sich die kleine Platine schlägt, werden wir in diesem Test feststellen.

Wer ein kleines potentes System aufsetzen will, greift auf Mini-ITX Mainboards wie das MSI MPG B550I GAMING WIFI EDGE zurück. Es ermöglicht dem Nutzer die Nutzung moderner AMD Prozessoren und viele Freiheiten in den Einstellungen. Natürlich darf auch das Design nicht zu kurz kommen. Wir testen heute dieses Mainboard in Verbindung mit einem AMD Ryzen 5 3600|

The MPG B550I GAMING EDGE WIFI has most of the features we could want from a B550 motherboard. In terms of those features, we have everything from PCIe Gen 4 to 2.5G LAN, WiFi 6 and much more, including plenty of USB ports. On the quality side, MSI has not let us down with their MPG B550I GAMING EDGE WIFI, and it is everything we would expect it to be from them; this board ticks most of the boxes for a B550 ITX and will do you proud.

The advance in chipset design has meant that a lot of modern motherboards are incredibly similar in specifications and performance. With little of the connectivity options relying upon external chips to perform that function, it takes a special effort to really produce a bad motherboard, but despite the limitations in design freedom it also only takes a little effort to make a big difference.

I feel that unless you have a precise reason to use a Macro-ATX motherboard, this isn't on my recommended list for normal use. It is overpriced in a crowed market, too close to the entry price of the X570 and the only thing going for it was a beefy VRM system that has been soured by a poorly laid out motherboard. Buyers beware, when speaking in baseball terms, this is a foul ball.

The MSI MPG B550 Gaming Carbon WIFI is a fine motherboard. From the packaging to the installation, it all just works. MSI may not have the fancy features of other motherboards and honestly, it doesn’t really need it plus it saves you a couple bucks here and there. The more I dive into the B550 motherboard the more I like them as well, the more I dive into MSI’s product line the more I like them as well. However, I’m not really impressed with EVERYTHING on the MSI B550 Gaming Carbon WIFI. The biggest complaint that I have is their BIOS GUI is getting a little long in the tooth and my opinion looks a bit dated. I think it needs a refresh. However, it does work and it is adequate for the task at hand.

Das MSI MAG B550 ist eines der Produkte aus der Kategorie “kann man kaufen”, das man gern testet und wohl sicher auch weiterverwendet. Gegenüber dem recht beliebten B450 Tomahawk sieht man allerdings eine ordentliche Steigerung in so manchem Detail. Die Spannungsversorgung und der sehr kühle Betrieb unter Volllast haben mich überrascht, das kann man wirklich so lassen. Wenn es Einschränkungen gibt, dann liegen sie am B550-Chipsatz, nicht an MSI. Und um mal auf meine Einführung auf Seite Eins zurückzukommen: diese Produkt wirbt eigentlich für sich selbst am besten. 😉

MSI has created a pretty fantastic motherboard here. They’ve trimmed back some of the fat to keep the cost down, which is absolutely fine, as they’ve put the money where it matters. The Mortar and Tomahawk motherboards from MSI are often some of the most competitive with any launch and that’s certainly still true today.

First impressions are always funny things. If you've ever seen on of those Youtube videos that is someone reacting to the new thing they've got you'd assume everything was amazing. The reality of course is that a few weeks down the road it's fallen apart or doesn't do what it promised or any number of things. The MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk is, to a small degree, the opposite of that. You get it out of the fairly plain box and see a fairly plain motherboard and the creeping dread sets in that this might be another one of those motherboards which does just about enough and nothing more.
