GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 Ti

Im Juni 2021 präsentierte NVIDIA die GeForce RTX 3070 Ti und legte damit eine Lösung im Raum zwischen der GeForce RTX 3070 und GeForce RTX 3080 vor. Heute wollen wir uns zwei Modelle der GeForce RTX 3070 Ti von Gigabyte anschauen. Das Master-Modell einerseits, das klar als High-End-Variante ausgelegt ist, während das Vision-Modell eine Einsteigervariante darstellt, bei der eine schicke Optik nach der Leistung der zweite Fokus war. Wie sich die beiden Modelle schlagen, schauen wir uns auf den kommenden Seiten an.

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3070 Ti has launched earlier this month to augment its RTX 30-series "Ampere" graphics card family, particularly as it faced unexpected competition from rival AMD in the high-end with the Radeon RX 6000 series "Big Navi" graphics cards. The RTX 3070 Ti is designed to fill a performance gap between the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080, letting NVIDIA better compete with the RX 6700 XT and RX 6800, which posed stiff competition to the RTX 3070. Cards from this segment are expected to offer maxed-out gaming at 1440p with raytracing enabled while retaining the ability to play at 4K UHD with reasonably good settings.

'Moody' is the worst to describe the price level we're dealing with, see we like the 3070 Ti as a whole, as a product, and for its performance. Gigabyte did a really nice job with the Gaming OC model. However, the conundrum is the price, dragging it all down. We're talking about a 2560x1440 resolution targeted graphics card, now costing likely 699 USD or more. When you blindly stare at the marginal increase of 256 Shader cores you might feel indifferent in the fact that the product would not make enough difference. NVIDIA did make the right call to move the GDDR6X though, the overall performance is there as the older 3070 memory was somewhat bandwidth limited. We're just not sure it makes a substantial enough differential. It turns out that the reconfigured product yields suitable numbers, especially in the WQHD resolution domain where this card is targeted at. 8GB however is going to become more troublesome in Ultra HD, albeit that's still a relativistic statement to make as this card is not aimed at that monitor resolution. As an overall package of hard- and software the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti performs well on all fronts, performance, cooling, and acoustics as a dual BIOS option. Gigabyte did most things right, even manually tweaking brings on great results. The big enigma will remain to be availability and pricing. Acoustics are debatable at default OC mode as we hit 41~42 DBa, the silent mode is extremely comfortable at hardly any performance loss. We recommend that BIOOS setting TBH. The cooling performance itself remains excellent even in silent mode. So a desktop gaming graphics card pur sang, this product is very satisfying and gratifying and definitely a recommended product. We're not granting awards as the pricing and availability will likely be totally off.

Der Ti-Refresh geht weiter. Nachdem NVIDIA in der vergangenen Woche die GeForce RTX 3080 Ti auf den Markt brachte, folgt heute schon das nächste Modell: die GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. Auch hier schraubt NVIDIA den Ausbau der Ampere-GPU nach oben, vermutlich um die Radeon RX 6800 deutlicher in die Schranken zu verweisen bzw. der Radeon RX 6800 XT etwas näher zu kommen. Ob dies gelingt, wo NVIDIA die Stellschrauben angelegt hat und was Gigabyte und Inno3D daraus gemacht haben, schauen wir uns auf den kommenden Seiten an.

This card is a chance to buy an Ampere card for 1080p or 1440p gaming without endlessly refreshing websites or getting scalped on your second-hand market of choice. That's pretty much the entirety of it. The performance isn't different enough to be worthy of shouting from the rooftops. Indeed we often saw some regular RTX 3070 cards outperforming the RTX 3070 Ti. The move to GDDR6X might increase the memory bandwidth, but as we've still only got 8 GB of it, there is no change to the huge drop off in performance if you're crazy enough to want to run at 4K with maxed out settings in some titles. The extra bandwidth, sadly, isn't giving us anything...

It definitely has a lot to offer in terms of looks with its multiple RGB zones, MASSIVE cooler and customizable LCD screen. If you are looking for the best of the best when it comes to the new 3070 Ti’s, this one definitely needs to be on the list to look into and check out. Gigabyte has done an amazing job with this card and seems to have ticked all the boxes necessary to make it one of the better ones available on the market.
