Corsair 5000D

The Corsair 5000D has two variants: The 5000D Airflow and 5000D solid panel, and we're benchmarking and reviewing both in this one content piece. This also talks about the differences between the Corsair 4000D and 5000D because, although the names make them look sequential, they're actually intended to both simultaneously exist and target different audiences. The latest of 4000D & 5000D PC cases from Corsair is a reprisal of the old Obsidian line, and Corsair appears to be back on track to improve its overall product quality in the case market. It's been a while since they've had good ones back-to-back, so that's good to see. Recent competitors would include the be quiet! Silent Base 802, the Fractal Meshify 2 & XL, Lian Li Lancool II Mesh, Phanteks P500, and similar.

Corsair has done an excellent job, designing a beautiful chassis in the 5000D Airflow. The solid metal panels in the front and top are sturdy enough to essentially "hang" in place freely without any support, with their uniquely shaped air vents, and there are dust filters on all intake areas, which are easily accessed as well. Even taking a closer look, the Corsair 5000D Airflow retains the same small but valuable design choices Corsair had initially introduced with the 4000 series.

Today Leo takes a look at the new 5000D Airflow chassis from Corsair priced at £139.99 inc vat. We could go through all the stats here, but the main question we answer today, is Leo impressed with it?

The Corsair 5000D Airflow is another solid entry into the mid-tier chassis category. It has good thermals, well-tuned fans, it's easy to work with, and supports a wide range of hardware. It does build on the new series of cases brought out by Corsair that started with the 4000 models a few months ago. You can quickly and easily get a full system up and running that's not only cool and quiet but also tidy and easy on the eye. All the cables are either hidden by design or using a minor bit of creativity, can be hidden behind other components such as the SATA cable in our build.

Ooh, I really like this one. It's a bit of a personal thing to say, I admit; the tested model's dark design paired with aesthetics and overall features will definitely please many. The top side has been revamped, the nice option for an LCS next to the motherboard, it all is nice. The rest of your components can be nicely hidden away. Aside from a bit too much marketing gobble like 'AirGuide technology,' 'anti-vortex,' and words like RapidRoute, we feel the new 5000D series offers refined looks and features. The cooling performance is adequate for this base model; need more? Opt the AIRFLOW version from mesh; however, that's at the cost of the clean looks. The two included fans are fairly silent but perform 'mid-range.' There's lots of room in the front for a nice LCS, and you get easy access there as well. Overall the chassis is easy to use and fairly maintenance free, with the easy to clean magnet-based dust-filters. You'll have enough storage options alongside proper cable routing and management options. For 150 USD for the base model as tested today, we feel Corsair offers a compelling and good-looking product. When you start building your system, it does all feel premium and well done. Pricing certainly isn't cheap; however, personally, I am always willing to spend a bit more on a proper chassis, as that's the product you'll be looking at all the time in that gaming room of yours.

This variant offers some tweaks and utilizes their latest AF120 Elite RGB fans. Also available in white, we have the black variant for review. On top of these updated cases, Corsair is launching the new fans themselves (read our review here) and also a new AIO which utilizes the fans - one of which we will use as part of this review build. In other words, today's launch is all about the AF120 Elite RGB fans, with the iCUE 5000D Airflow RGB and AIO making a support appearance.
