Mit einem Preis von 400€ richtet sich das ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII IMPACT ganz klar an Entusiasten. Der Preis ist unserer Meinung nach sehr hoch, allerdings wird uns auch einiges dafür geboten. Neben den Vorteilen, die uns der X570-Chipsatz bietet, ist das ROG CROSSHAIR VIII IMPACT optisch sehr ansprechend gestaltet und auch sehr gut verarbeitet.

The ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact is an incredible feat of engineering and design. Nothing about the Impact follows a standard motherboard layout, and I can only imagine the amount of time ASUS spent working to cram features into this board without any compromise. Moving the chipset and 8-pin CPU power connectors is just the start. The separated audio section on an M.2 style card and the SO-DIMM.2 expansion card are unique and expensive accommodations to allow for as much as is here on an SFF board.

Das ASUS ROG STRIX X570-I GAMING hat dafür, dass es im Mini-ITX Formfaktor ist, einiges zu bieten. Dank der guten Spannungsversorgung und dessen Kühlung ist es ohne Probleme möglich einen 12-Kerner oder 16-Kerner darauf zu betreiben. In unserem Test waren die Temperaturen selbst in einem ITX-Gehäuse ohne Gehäuselüfter in einem grünen Bereich. Des Weiteren waren die Lüfter für die VRM- und Chipsatzkühlung nicht aus dem System herauszuhören.

Die Entscheidung ob X570 oder B550 ist natürlich auch eine Frage des Geldes und der benötigten Features. Und genau da wird es plötzlich interessant, wenn man z.B. zwei Boards einer sehr ähnlichen Ausstattungsreihe des gleichen Herstellers vergleicht... Video gucken!

Über den neuen B550-Chipsatz hatte ich ja bereits ausführlich geschrieben und wer sich noch einmal informieren möchte, kann und sollte dies zunächst hier mit Hilfe des Artikels AMDs B550 Chipsatz bringt viele neue Features und trennt doch die Ryzen-Generationen tun. Ansonsten ist die Entscheidung natürlich auch eine Frage des Geldes und der benötigten Features. Und genau da wird es plötzlich interessant, wenn man z.B. zwei Boards einer sehr ähnlichen Ausstattungsreihe des gleichen Herstellers vergleicht.

Wir haben uns den Ryzen 5 3600 geschnappt, ihn auf ein nagelneues ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero mit X570-Chipsatz geschnallt und gegen einen Ryzen 5 2600X sowie Intel Core i7-8700K antreten lassen.

Zwar ist der Preis des ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII Hero WI-FI im Vergleich zum Vorgänger gestiegen, dennoch bietet es zahlreiche Neuerungen die vor allem dem X570-Chipsatz zu verdanken sind. Aber nicht nur die zahlreichen Anschlüsse und Features fallen ins Auge, sondern auch die massive Spannungsversorgung die für alle AM4-CPUs locker ausreichen wird. Wir vergeben dem ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII Hero WI-FI 9.9 von 10 Punkten und vergeben unsere Empfehlung Spitzenklasse.

The ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII HERO (WiFi) has an attractive, subtle, and complex design. The integrated rear I/O shield is an excellent touch, adding a little bit of luxury that lends itself perfectly to the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII HERO (WiFi) refined gamer aesthetic. Rather than a single grand feature that makes the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII HERO (WiFi) stand out, it is the relentless attention to detail in every element that comes together and creates something that is more than the sum of its parts. A cliche, I know, but ASUS is a top brand for a reason.

By this point, the TUF Gaming Alliance is well established, offering a broad range of components with high standards for compatibility and a conveniently matching color scheme. The distinctive black and yellow color scheme may not suit everyone's taste, but the convenience of building within a controlled aesthetic for all components is a tangible benefit. The ASUS TUF Gaming motherboards in particular have a reputation for being an excellent balance of price and features, and the ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Pro (WiFi) continues that legacy with a powerful VRM, good connectivity, and a competitive price tag.

With 2020-2022 feeling like the longest year ever, it's easy to forget that the X570 chipset has been out now for three years in just a few months. That is a long time for any chipset, but even longer when you consider X570 is just at the end of an even longer run with the AM4 socket as a whole. In the time from the X570 launch until now, other released motherboards have seen a few improvements, especially on the network side of things where 10G and 2.5G are available on most higher-end boards. X570 was a little left behind until we saw some refreshed boards released last year including the ProArt X570-Creator WiFi. So while it is still running the now older chipset, the ProArt X570-Creator WiFi is packed full of features. Just for networking alone, it has both a 2.5G NIC and a 10G NIC which is a big improvement over the Crosshair VIII Hero from the X570 launch which had 1G and 2.5G NICs. Then for wireless, the ProArt X570-Creator WiFi now supports WiFi 6E where the Hero only supports WiFi 6.

The ASUS ProArt X570-Creator WiFi has a whole raft of features designed squarely at the creators in our midsts. It's all about having high performance storage options and consistent performance. It might not be the motherboard that will see you breaking world records of peak performance, but that isn't the point. We don't want a motherboard that can be blisteringly fast for five minutes and then needs a long rest. We - by which we mean creative types - need one that will work relentlessly. An endurance racer rather than a dragster. The ProArt has this covered. The power phases are solid and the heatsink doesn't soak your system with heat build up. It hits just below 50°C and then stays there all day long without issue.

Spätzünder gibt es in vielen Bereichen und damit auch in der IT-Branche. Das Warten auf das ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme war ziemlich langwierig, doch nun ist es endlich erhältlich. ASUS has gone all out in creating a product that deserves recognition. This is not to say it is flawless, but it is unquestionably in the upper stratosphere. Reviewing a premium motherboard inherently includes a certain amount of frustration during the writing phase. A product with a lack of issues leaves little to discuss. Since AMD CPUs have limited overclocking potential and memory support doesn't have to be "extreme" either as far hardware performance goes, everything can be achieved with any of ASUS's Crosshair motherboards, like the Impact, Formula or Hero, without a noticeable difference after optimizing and being configured correctly.

If you are looking for the ultimate X570 motherboard this is it. Looking at the slew of features there really is nothing missing from this motherboard. You have the 18+2 power phase design with 45 amp MicroFine alloy chokes, and 10K premium capacitors, giving you up to 1620 amps of available power. This is the most I’ve seen on a motherboard before! This board is easily going to be able to handle the most high-end AMD processors including the Ryzen 9 5950X. We were easily able to overclock our Ryzen 9 5900X to 4.6 GHz on all 12 cores.

So yes, an 800 USD motherboard is not faster than a 200 USD one, however it's all about features. What a stunningly beautiful motherboard, eh? The VIII Extreme has a sleek, high-end appearance, and it fits sweetly into this category. It's a beast of a creature, and then some. ASUS employed only high-quality components in this build and continued to add features such as 2.5 and 10 Gigabit connectors and a pretty sweet WIFI6E (AX) network solution. By the way, our AC wifi test results were good, not perfect, with a throughput of ~600 Mbit/s on a single link. It's a good achievement though. It is exactly the same with the threefold of M2 slots, which are, by the way, appropriately cooled and then the extra 2 through the DIMM2 slot. I truly adore this motherboard just for the looks and features. However, prices do pose a massive issue. Currently this board is listed at 800 EUR with roughly similar prices in USD, OMG.

One of the things we've mentioned a lot in recent years is how consistent hardware manufacturers have become in ensuring that, with some natural exceptions, it almost doesn't matter which model you choose in performance terms as they're all the same. The differences are very much about the feature set instead. The extras. Once upon a time companies with that weren't so performance orientated instead offered you a plentiful choice of features to make up for that performance whilst the ROG and similar high-end products were all about squeezing every last ounce of performance from your hardware.

Last year, AMD released the Ryzen 3000 series desktop processors in one of the most monumental hardware launches of the modern era. This final step completed the Red brand's ascent back into the forefront of the desktop processor market that began with the launch of the first generation of Ryzen CPUs. With the Ryzen 3000 launch came the AMD X570 chipset. Featuring PCIe 4.0 support, X570 was an impressive leap from generations past. It was also hot, which had motherboards often including chipset cooling fans. With Ryzen 5000 around the corner, as well as AMD's RDNA2 GPU launch, there is more interest than ever in Team Red. The ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero is an update to last year's award winning ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero. The ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero has been equipped with the same accouterments as last year's Hero, with a few upgrades. The M.2 heatsinks on both slots, a premium lighting solution, integrated rear I/O shield, and great ASUS BIOS have not changed. But the VRM Power Stages have been upgraded to 90 A from 60 A, and most importantly, ASUS has done away with the chipset fan. The only question is how much better is the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero?

The ASUS Prime X570-Pro is an attractive, simple, and concise motherboard. While the feature set might seem sparse for the MSRP at first glance, ASUS truly put some thought into what to include with the ASUS Prime X570-Pro. The VRM is ferociously overbuilt, offering true 14-phase power delivery without any signal doubling. The integrated rear I/O shield is an excellent touch that adds a little bit of luxury into an otherwise intensely practical motherboard. The chipset heatsink, while small, performed well.

Alle Boards mit VRM-Kühler hatten keine Probleme mit höheren Lasten, selbst wenn die Spannungswandlerverluste bei dem einen oder anderen Board höher lagen. Wenn ich später die Boards ohne Kühlkörper messe, dann geschieht dies lediglich zu Demonstrationszwecken und nicht deshalb, weil eines der Boards für seine Aufgabe ungeeignet gewesen wäre. Die Bauelementeauswahl unterliegt stets auch Kostenzwängen, so dass man natürlich auch Abstriche akzeptieren muss, solange die Funktionalität und mögliche Haltbarkeit nicht nachweislich beeinflusst werden.

Asus hat mit dem X570 Strix-E das ideale Mainboard für sämtliche Anwendungen im Sortiment. Es verfügt neben einer umfangreichen Anschlussvielfalt auch über ausreichend Reserven um selbst einen 3950X mit ordentlicher Leistung zu befeuern.

Das ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E Gaming bietet eine Vielfalt an Features und ist aktuell ab 330€ erhältlich. Wie auch beim ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII Hero bietet das X570-E Gaming dank des X570-Chipsatzes viele USB 3.2 Gen2 Anschlüsse und PCI-Express 4.0.

ASUS isn't without stern competition at the sub $300-350 price point with GIGABYTE, and ASRock both competing with models that similar feature sets. This includes models with three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, but none of them include as much USB 3.2 G2 on the rear panel, and this is where the ASUS shines. ASUS does include a solid software package that makes subtle, but effective enhancements in users' experience, it only bolsters the overall package. It performs well in our testing, looks good while doing it, and offers users plenty of overhead for users looking to push the performance of Ryzen 5000 and Ryzen 3000.

The ASUS ROG Strix X570-E features a solid feature set and a good array of connectivity. While we do feel there’s room for 3 M.2 slots, I really don’t see a lot of folks making that jump if they’re already rocking 2. For professionals, a bulk hard drive array would suffice and this motherboard supports up 8 SATA devices.

What Asus has here is a capable X570 board that we'd feel far more comfortable dropping a 12- or 16-core 3rd Gen Ryzen CPU into than the MSI X570-A Pro. It also has added aesthetic prowess, Wi-Fi up to the preferred 802.11ax standard, 2.5 Gigabit LAN, M.2 heatsinks, greater PCIe 4.0 support, and more scope for large storage arrays. It strikes a good balance between premium features and price, knocking more than £100 off the price of the MSI Prestige X570 Creation, so if you have a little extra cash to play with for the heart of your new X570 rig, the Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming is an attractive and solid choice.
