ASUS has been a strong supporter of the Mini-ITX form factor ever since it joined the party with its enthusiast-orientated P8Z77-I Deluxe nearly 15 years ago, and the ROG Strix B850-I Gaming Wi-Fi sits at the end of a very long pedigree of products. Since then, ASUS Mini-ITX boards have usually been the ones to beat. ASUS might not have joined ASRock with their fabulous high-end desktop X99 and X299 models, but on mainstream boards it's ASUS that has the most drool-worthy options.

If you love the design of the ProArt range of ASUS products but can't justify the outlay for the X870E or Z890 options, the company finally has a more affordable option with a lower end 800-series chipset. The ProArt B850-Creator Wi-Fi Neo is one of ASUS's latest refresh Socket AM5 models for 800-series chipsets, that comes with new features as well as the striking ProArt design. Unlike most previous B850 motherboards, we now have dual PCIe Gen 5 M.2 ports and these have dedicated lanes that aren't shared with other devices. The BIOS size has doubled from 256 Mbit (32 MB) to 512 Mbit (64 MB) to allow for driver integration, future features and potentially CPU support, and the list of upgrades from the B650 predecessor is even more extensive.

In addition to a solid specifications upgrade, the B850-A Gaming WiFi offers impressive storage options, slightly surpassing its predecessor, the B650-A Gaming WiFi. However, users should note that the PCIe X16_2 slot and M.2_3 slot share lanes, meaning the M.2_3 slot will be disabled if the PCIe X16_2 slot is used. Overall, the B850-A Gaming WiFi is a reliable and well-rounded motherboard for those planning to build a new system with AMD Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors.

Vor mehr als drei Jahren haben wir uns das ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming WiFi (Test) von ASUS angeschaut und Stand heute gibt es nicht nur das ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi, sondern das noch aktuellere ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 Neo als Teil der AM5-Refresh-Modelle. Und auch wenn das ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 Neo auf den praktischen AIO-Q-Connector für kompatible AiO-Wasserkühlungen von ASUS verzichten muss, ist die gebotene Ausstattung für den Großteil der Technik-Interessenten ausreichend.

The ASUS ROG Strix B850-F Gaming Wi-Fi7 Neo impresses with excellent VRM thermal performance and easy-to-install M.2 heatsinks. With USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 at 20 Gbps and 5 Gbps Ethernet, connectivity is top-notch. A revamped BIOS enhances usability, making this board a solid choice for gamers, despite its premium price.

While it's sometimes considered the poorer, less interesting cousin to Mini-ITX, the ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-Plus Wi-Fi's microATX form factor still has a lot going for it, with several decent and affordable cases available that are just as happy air cooled as they are liquid cooled. With Mini-ITX often demanding a premium for similar specifications, and ATX taking up unnecessary space if you just have a single GPU alongside typical storage and cooling requirements. If you need an AMD motherboard and fancy a microATX fling for a change, then from the start we can say the TUF Gaming B850M-Plus Wi-Fi is a solid choice for around $200.
